Why have Appraisals?
There is no point in having an appraisal process if it is just a paper exercise. It will take up valuable management (and employee time). There needs to be a value to the organisation and employee of having a formal appraisal process. The overall aim of an Appraisal Scheme is to review and evaluate the performance of individuals with a view to improve / enhance an individual’s performance and hence the performance of the business. Effective Appraisals or Performance Management Schemes can benefit the organisation and individuals, as improved performance will add more value to the business and provide motivation to the individual.
